30 DoW: Psalm 61 - Shelter

Psalm 61
1
Hear my cry, O God;
listen to my prayer.

2 From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

3 For you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the foe.

4 I long to dwell in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
Selah

5 For you have heard my vows, O God;
you have given me the heritage of those who
fear your name.

Response:
Interesting, I had a twinge of an old, familiar and unwelcome pain today that came on unexpectedly. I'm not even sure why it struck, because it seemed so unrelated to current circumstances. But reading this was comforting. It's good to know that we can take shelter in the LORD and that He listens when our heart grows faint, for whatever reason. Being with Him is what I long for most whenever these thoughts arise.

It is good to be in the heritage of those who fear His name, and to give praise to that Holy and exalted name, regardless of emotion, thought, circumstance or consequence.
