30 DoW: Psalm 97 - Unrivaled

Psalm 97
1
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.

2
Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

3
Fire goes before him
and consumes his foes on every side.

4
His lightning lights up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.

5
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.

6
The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all the peoples see his glory.

7
All who worship images are put to shame,
those who boast in idols--
worship him, all you gods!

Response:
I know so many people who worship idols, other gods, even themselves. Some think they are gods.

But what have they created? Did they even make their own bodies, or their own souls? Did they choose where and to whom they would be born? Do they or their gods or their idols have any control over the growth of even a single seed? Obviously no, much less the sheer and absolute power described here.

The idea is so ludicrous that only they are blind to their own foolishness, and shame truly is soon upon them if their eyes remain closed.

Praise God the He opened my own eyes, and I see nothing and no one else worthy of worship except Him alone.
